The Perse Preparatory School's Vision, Aims and Ethos
Vision and Ethos
The Perse wishes to take full advantage of the freedoms stemming from its independent status to be innovative in the delivery of a high quality academic education that meets the needs of its talented pupils across the 3-18 age range.
The Perse will continue its emphasis on all-round educational excellence, by providing a rich diversity of opportunities for pupils to develop a broad range of skills to a high level.
The Perse wishes to preserve its tradition of accessibility by increasing bursary provision in the Prep and Upper. The school is committed to its charitable aims, and our long term goal is to recruit pupils purely by ability irrespective of financial means.
The Perse is committed to equal opportunities, and is making the transition to full co-education so that both boys and girls can benefit from a Perse education. By increasing the number of places in the school, and increasing the means tested bursary provision, the school is creating more educational opportunities for the children of Cambridge and surrounding areas.
Aims
- The Perse Prep School is committed to encouraging and enabling all pupils to achieve their academic potential; promoting intellectual curiosity, independence of mind and creativity; and stimulating a love of learning.
- We aim to provide pupils with the opportunities and encouragement to discover and develop extra curricular talents and enjoy success outside the classroom.
- We aim to help to form pupils who are able to demonstrate, that they respect and value those who they learn with and from; who are capable of working successfully in collaboration with - and leading - others; and who are sensitive to needs other than their own.
- We aim to encourage pupils to explore their place in the world; to appreciate that they have a position of privilege in many ways; to consider their responsibilities to others – globally, nationally, locally, and within the school community; and to develop both a sound moral framework and an appreciation of the spiritual dimension to life.
- We aim to maintain and enhance our commitment to providing means tested financial assistance to pupils whose families could not otherwise afford our fees.
- We aim to provide a stimulating, rewarding and supportive working environment for all employees.
