Last Thursday Year 4 all went back in time to the reign of Henry VIII – when England was celebrating the birth of Prince Edward.
The children had the chance to try out different workshops - such as being the Alchemist's apprentices (trying to find the much longed for elixir of life), making soap balls, pomanders and scent bags (all very fragrant), writing with quill pens, dipping candles and being barber surgeons (and particularly bloodthirsty ones at that!).
Later we had a Tudor "banquet", where the peasants and gentry were entertained by some very impressive dancing, singing and acting! The costumes all looked most authentic, and particular thanks to the parent helpers for their invaluable support. One parent, when in role, even volunteered to be Henry's next wife!
